The Recycled Rain Project

an annual art show creating works made with rain water to raise awareness of water issues

TEAM RR2014

This year we are excited to welcome two new faces to the Recycled Rain Project. Jessica Lathem and Lindsay Kretchun are the owners of Duplex Gallery and their expertise in curation is allowing us to expand this year! Duplex is assisting in curation of our Featured Artist’s portion of the show. These Featured artists are working artists in the Portland Area that have demonstrated a dedication to the environment as well as their profession. Featured Artists will be announced soon!

For the open call portion of the show a juried panel will select a group of artists that will get 45 days to collect rainwater and create one piece for the show. The open call portion is how this show originated and we love our roots. And speaking of roots, the curator for this portion of the show will be Sara McCormick, who has been with the project since the beginning!

MEET TEAM RR 2014!

Since Sara began producing art again in 2010 she has always used rainwater whenever available. In 2012 she founded The Recycled Rain Project. The first Recycled Rain Project took place at LaunchPad Gallery in June, 2012 with just nine artists.

For the Second Recycled Rain Project the show was expanded to the Olympic Mills building and the artists jumped from 9 to 28. With this additional space it was even possible to add the RAINDROPS children’s gallery!

Outside of RR Sara is a local artist with Gallery 903 and the owner of Something Clever Creative Services. She is also the cover artist of the 2014/2015 edition of Artslandia magazine.
